TetriMania master on XP??

Recommended Posts

Just converted my elderly neighbor to a new-ish PC and

XP Pro. Not sure this was a great idea. All is well

except her TetriMania master PC game will not run.

Ideas??

If you don't find an answer here, you might try the

microsoft.public.windowsxp.games or microsoft.public.games newsgroups for

some advice.

The program install fine and starts up. But it's all blurred as

if it were out of focus. The colors smear across the screen

and everything is sorta blotchy. Then it dies and XP asks

if I want to send an error report. I have tried other screen

resolutions with the same results.

First off, try running the game in the Windows95 compatability mode

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/russel_02february18.mspx

Otherwise, look around for some other Tetris games...

I still use a very old version from Windows3.1 and it works fine in XP

Everything in Bowep still runs on XP

and the package contains Tetris

A google search will provide many more free versions of the game

The TetriMania does the same thing in compatibility mode so

I just downloaded BOWEP. Hope that keeps her happy!

Thanks for the pointer.

Have her try lowering the graphics hardware acceleration slide. She can

lower graphics hardware acceleration in Display Properties, Settings

tab, Advanced button, Troubleshooting tab. If this helps, she probably

needs a different graphics card or drivers.

Thanks for the advice.

I set the Graphics Acceleration to OFF. Program starts and the

text and picture look great. But then it dies and XP asks

whether I want to send an error report.

Ah well...

Perhaps try tech support at the publishers site?
