I have a stand alone windows 2003 server in workgroup not a domain. The event

log has Event id 8019 (the browser was unable to promote itself to the master

browser. I would like to know is there a registry key to disable the election

process.

For the Windows NT'ish machines

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Browser\Parameters

Set all but the pc designated as browse master to

MaintainServerList = "No"

IsDomainMaster = "False"

RE: Master Browser election

Hi Ray,

Did you really want to stop elections or jsut make sure that the server is

always the Master Browser. Especially in a workgroup environment, I would

think you'd want to maintain the list?
