When I try to boot up my PC running XP, it stops at the first page that says defaults loaded press F1 to continue, and then it boots up, the only thing is that the date and time change to 1st January 2003 every time. It has just started to do this, and does it every time I Bootup. Help please?

Hi

I agree the symptons sound like your cmos battery has failed.

pop to a computer shop and buy a new one..they only cost roughly £3..and are very simple to fit.

look on your motherboard (usally near the front panel wiring) anf you will find the round battery (looks like an oversized watch battery).

just remove it, pop your new one in.

go into your bios setup your time and your done.

or just reboot and set your time in windows

Thank you for the information guys, but my main concern is when i first startup, it comes to a screen which says CMOS Checksum error-default loaded

Press F1 to ontinue or Del to enter set up, it never used to do this it would fully bootup when you pressed the start button

That's because you need a new battery. Replace the battery and you won't have that problem anymore.
