brunoalan Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 When I try to boot up my PC running XP, it stops at the first page that says defaults loaded press F1 to continue, and then it boots up, the only thing is that the date and time change to 1st January 2003 every time. It has just started to do this, and does it every time I Bootup. Help please? Quote
KenB Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 The first thing to try is to change the CMOS battery on the motherboard. Did you notice the time and date not correct before your real problem started? Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! brunoalan Posted November 29, 2009 Author Posted November 29, 2009 Hello Ken The date and time was working ok before this problem, and when I have re set them they are ok and keep good time, they ONLY change on the next boot up always the same date and time 1st of January 2003 Quote
danzil Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Hi I agree the symptons sound like your cmos battery has failed. pop to a computer shop and buy a new one..they only cost roughly £3..and are very simple to fit. look on your motherboard (usally near the front panel wiring) anf you will find the round battery (looks like an oversized watch battery). just remove it, pop your new one in. go into your bios setup your time and your done. or just reboot and set your time in windows regards danzil Quote Windows 10 Pro x64Aqua Jeantech Gaming case550watt psu.MSI Gaming Board32GB DDR3 Corsair gaming RamGenuine Intel i7 3.2Ghz4 x 24x dvdrw 150GB SSD750GB Hybrid Drive256 RAID PCI/E SSD for OSand loads of other bits i really dont need :D
brunoalan Posted November 30, 2009 Author Posted November 30, 2009 Thank you for the information guys, but my main concern is when i first startup, it comes to a screen which says CMOS Checksum error-default loaded Press F1 to ontinue or Del to enter set up, it never used to do this it would fully bootup when you pressed the start button Quote
RandyL Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 That's because you need a new battery. Replace the battery and you won't have that problem anymore.
