Monitor CPU usage all all users on terminal server

Hello,

i need to enable a user (yes: A user!) to monitor the cpu usage of all users

on a terminal server without making him a member of the administrators or

power users group. I have added the user to the "Performance Log Users" and

"Performance Monitor Users" groups to allow him to gather the relevant

resource data on the server.

One problem is, that a normal user cannot enable the "show processes of all

users" option in Task Manager. This seems to be a hardcoded Admin-option. I

have found two ways to circumvent this issue:

1. Use a different monitoring tool, e.g. PcrView

2. Use a registry-hack:

http://www.windowsnetworking.com/kbase/WindowsTips/Windows2003/AdminTips/TerminalServersandThinClients/EnableViewingofAllProcessesforNon-AdministrativeUsersonaTerminalServer.html

In both cases the user was able to see the cpu usage of all processes, BUT

he does not see the user names for the processes. The only user name that

show up in the corresponding column is his own for the processes that he owns.

Does anybody have an idea how to enable him to see the user names? Any help

would be appreciated!

Regards

HarryH
