Jelly4 Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Hi All, I am a new member and am having a few problems on my computer/laptop. If anyone can help me at all... that would be excellent! To start with, my laptop has been suffering from "Blue Screen" for some time now. Everything freezes, a blue screen pops up with a message that is way to fast for me to read, and then it reboots itself. At first I thought I had a virus (because I am a simple person with no computer skills besides typing!!) and then this came up : HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20N So, through that name I found you guys and figured out how to fix my dvd/cd rom drive (I hope that's what it's called!) and now that half works. Ok... the real questions now... 1. My laptop is still blue screening and sometimes says this: Error Signature: BCCode : 9c BCP1 : 00000000 BCP2 : 80546E70 BCP3 : F2000040 BCP4 : 00000800 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 3_0 Product : 256_1 Hardware: DT, ST, HT, DVDRAM And that I have a Hardware problem. I tried starting in safe mode with networking and going to windows/system32/drivers .. but had no idea what to look for! lol. Are there any idea's on what i should be doing or looking for?? 2. Is there anywhere I can get a FREE MPEG-2 dvd Decoder for my windows media player so I can actually watch the dvd's now? Sorry for the long post, I hope someone can help me because I am at the limit of my computer knowledge and searching the internet for ideas pretending to be a computer whiz is actually frying my brain cells! I have no idea what half of the stuff means and no-one else to ask. :( Thanks again! xx J Quote
Jelly Bean Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Hello Jelly and welcome. Nice name by the way. Ok it is possible your DVD rom drive needs a driver or is broken or has some kind of issue. In safe mode right click on My Computer and scroll and open propertiies/hardware tab/device manager. Is there a yellow symbol located at the DVD rom drive? If yes try a right click on the listed drive and choose update driver. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
Jelly4 Posted December 6, 2009 Author Posted December 6, 2009 Hi there Jelly Bean! Thanks for the reply. I tried exactly what you posted here... but it says that the drive already has the best software suitable for it to run. :( Any other ideas? Anyone?? xx J Quote
muppet rebecca Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 similiar to what jelly bean has said but instead of updating the drives go back to your previous driver settings and see if that helps. Quote
Jelly Bean Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Also update graphics card driver and install the latest Direct X. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
