Icons not visible

Hi,

I have Win XP Professional on my PC. Since the past few weeks some

icons related to some applications such as Excel, Word, etc. do not

appear against the associated files. For instance if I have an Excel

file, the Excel icon does not appear when it is listed in the

explorer. Instead, it shows the generic icon, the one that appears for

an unknown format. The file does open properly in Excel though.

I don't remember exactly what I had done before this started

happening. The antivirus s/w is running fine.

Is there a way to fix this without reinstalling the OS?

Is it possible to repair the OS to fix this problem?

Thanks,

Yash

You might try the Ico File Association fix found here:

http://www.dougknox.com/

Click on WinXP Fixes > File Association Fixes > scroll down to Ico File

Association Fix.

These are registry tweaks/corrections

Good luck!.
