Diskclean Automation

Currently using XP pro with all service packs. After reading KB Article 315246

I have read the article but am still left with questions. I see the option

for sageset and sagerun but do not see the actual syntax for entering a

statement at the command line. The article states that one may set a

[sageset/sagerun] number from zero to 65535. I want to automate diskcleanup

to clear the Temporary Internet files, offline webpages, recycle bin,

webclient/publisher temporary files. I would want this to occur twice daily

and would prefer to control the times. At the run command line what would I

need to enter?.This article is poorly written. Guidance sought

XP's built in in disk cleaner sucks. You really should reboot before

cleaning out temp files and do it manually. I use, and recommend, Crap

Cleaner that cleans out a lot more and can be gotten at

http://www.ccleaner.com/ It's free.

Disc cleanup works great. If it 'sucks' as you say what is your problem with

it?

Download Crap Cleaner. Install it. Wait a couple of days for the temp

files to fill up. Then run Disk Clean Up followed by Crap Cleaner and yu

will see how much CRAP Disk Clean Up misses and then, hopefully, you

will understand why Disk Clean Up SUCKS.

One example for you to consider: does Disk Clean Up clean up Java?

Re: Diskclean Automation

Per the article instructions, you run "cleanmgr /sageset:number",

pick/check off the options desired which are saved as that

"configuration number", and then in Scheduled tasks you set up "cleanmgr

/sagerun:number" to run the configured set of options. What part are you

having trouble with?

I didn't suggest that you do. Crap Cleaner is a well known and respected

application. Even Bill Gates uses it :-)
