Hi

 

My pc won't start up keeps getting black screen , system repair couldn't fix the problem so decided to do full system recovery using Packard Bell recovery disk which I made myself .it all seemed to be going well until it asked for disk 2 .When I created the recovery disks i wasn't given the option to make a second disk and thought all the necessary files were on the first DVD.

I get the message BootMgr is missing can you advise what i can do if anything

Recovering From the Hard Drive During Startup

 

To reinstall Windows Vista and all pre-installed software and drivers:

  1. Turn on your computer, then press <F11> during startup. Packard Bell Recovery Management opens.
  2. Click Restore system from factory default.
     
    Caution: Continuing the process will erase all files on your hard drive.
  3. Click Next to continue. Your hard drive's original, factory-loaded contents are recovered. This process will take several minutes.

Nothing happens when i press F11, same message appears BOOTMGR missing.

Any other options?

When you say you made them (is the PC you are trying to use them on an HP?)

 

Recovery set of disks (CD version) are normally 2 disks and a drivers CD

Recovery disks (DVD version) is one disk which includes drivers.

 

You have half a set by the look of it

vista recovery

I made the disk on a DVD , its a Packard Bell.I've been on to P C world as I have some sort of insurance cover which doesn't cover this problem .they advised me to either get a vista disk from P Bell or try installing Xp instead which i tried to do from my son's Toshiba .

xp started to install but i got a blue screen with various errors now i don't have the option to uninstall Xp .

Any ideas would be appreciated

You started the recovery with the first vista disk but couldn't finish because you didn't make the second.

 

You tried the wrong disks for your computer for an xp install.

 

Either way once you got as far as you did there is no hope other than to contact the manufacturer for the correct recovery disks or get a full retail version.

Hi, here is a link to Packard Bell support, you will need to input all the details, but that should then find you the way to order replacement recovery disks.
