replacing hard disk: This copy of windows must be activated:Stuck

Hi all,

So, my hard disk crashed on my e-machine T3085 and had to be replaced.

I replaced it and trierd to use my recovery disks that came with my computer.

First, it hung at the "name my computer" screen. I was told to put it in VGA

mode.

That got me past that screen. Now I am stuck on "This copy of widows must

activated with Microsoft before you can log on. Do y0ou want to activate

Windows now? If i press no it returns me to the log in screen and shows the

same message after i click on "Owner" if i press yes it just hangs at the

next screen. It will not boot in Safe-Mode. Any help would be much

appreciated.

HI! ROMAY. THIS IS MY OPINION. WHEN WE CHANGE THE MOTHERBOARD, OR HD OR

ANOTHER SPART PART; IT`S NECESSARY CLEAN THE HD. IT`S NOT YOUR CASE. YOU

CHANGE YOUR HD. BUT YOU MAKE A COPY YOUR SOFTS. ALL SPART PART HAVE A CODE

AND STAY RECORD IN THE HD OR IN THE BIOS SYSTEM. THE MICROSOFT USE THIS CODE

TO IDENTIFY YOUR PC. YOU CHANGE YOUR HD YOU HAVE A NEW CODE FOR HD. YOU MAKE

COPIE OLD HD, YOU HAVE A OLD CODE. MICROSOFT CHECK YOUR PC AND SAY: OH! MY

GOD IS NOT ROMAY. IT`S ANOTHER PERSON THAT USE THE SAME NAME ROMAY. NOW YOU

HAVE TWO PERSON WITH SAME NAME OR SAME CODE. SO, YOU DON`T GET ACTIVATE YOUR

WINDOWS. OK! ROMAY, THIS IS MY OPINION, CLEAN AGAIN YOUR NEW HD. INSTALL

YOUR WINDOWS FIRST, INSTALL ANTIVIRUS/FIREWALL AND SETUP YOUR INTERNET AND

NOW ACTIVATE YOUR WINDOWS. USE NORMAL MODE. NOW INSTALL ALL YOUR SOFT.

Incorrect advice and in all caps, too. What did we do to deserve this?

Nothing, so please stop.

You need to contact eMachines for help with their Recovery Disks. Normally

just replacing a hard drive in an eMachines computer (and nothing else)

shouldn't prevent you from using their Recovery Disks, but who knows with

them? Only eMachines.

Something is definitely odd about this though because you won't need to

activate XP if you really used an eMachines Recovery Disk. Possibly by

mistake you used a different XP installation disk you had lying around?
