Hopefully someone knows where I get the WPA code from.

I have connected a broadband modem (virgin media) to a netgear WNR2000.

The laptop is picking up the signal but I get a box asking for the WEP or WPA where do I find this?

I understand it is for security but is it something I make up like a password or is there a hidden code in part of the laptop. Hope this makes sense.

thanks Kathy

Hi

It is looking for the Key which is usually at the bottom of the router. It should say WPA key or Pre-shared key.

As Maynard has said all the details will be on the underside of the router, BUT someone would have configured the network, you need to access the routers home page in order to set any passwords and if you have not done this, then the engineer that came out would have.

There are varying degrees of encryption on routers, if you have to redo the security settings make sure you use WEP as opposed to PSK or anything else as its easier to manage and setup
