I want to turn off Windows Firewall because I have another firewall I want

to use. I have a windows 20003 server - domain. Windows XP Pro on

workstations. I see that the network connection are firewalled. I went to

Security Center and to the Windows firewall settings. I won't give me the

option to turn off the firewalled it is greyed out. The new computer came

with Micro Trend PC Cillan preloaded - full subscrption. I took all

references of that out of the networking and msconfig etc. I am still

firellwalled. I will let me edit the viurs. I wondering if there may be a

scropt that is stopping this? Somebody else set this up. I am just

replacing the computers (workstation). Is there settings that I should

change somewhere?

You need to be logged in as an Administrator!

If not, you can't.

When it's greyed out, it's a very good chance that the domain's group policy

is set to enable the firewall [this assuming you have admin rights on the PC].

The Windows Firewall is a service, and the simple way to control its status

is to set the service (in services.msc) to Auto or Disabled, as required.

RE: Windows Firewall - Turning off

So I would run that on each workstation or on the Domain server?
