Thought I would ask if anyone might have an idea on a problem I am having here with Flash 9 on Vista.

Seems like Flash is somewhat slugish or stuttering on video playback. We're talking even some stuff on YouTube as an example.

Haven't been able to track down the cause of this but here's what I do know thus far:

- Tried to disable IE protected mode to see if that had any impact. It either had a hardly noticable or no impact.

- Noticed a FlashUtil9e.exe running Task Manager. Still haven't quite figured out what this is, but thinking maybe some form of proxy for Flash?

- Under XP it runs just fine. No performance problems whatsoever.

- Fully uninstalled Flash (using Adobe's tools) and re-install.

- Fully re-installed the OS from scratch (twice).

- Seems to do just fine with everything else (even Silverlight) and gaming as well.

How bad of a slow down are we talking? Something in the order that my 700 MHz PPC G3 Mac can sometimes outperform my desktop machine.

Decided to stay quiet about it until SP1 to see if that may resolve it, but it didn't seem to do anything for the problem.

System general specs:

Windows Vista Ultimate (6.0.6001 Service Pack 1 Build 6001)

running on an Intel D845EBT2 (Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.40GHz)

with a RADEON X700 Series and an SB Live! 24-bit

WDC WD740GD-00FLA1 (10,000 RPM) on a Silicon Image SiI 3112 SATALink

2 Gb system memory
