Win2k3 R2 FSRM Quota For Users Home Folders - Advice

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi All,

In a test lab, I have implemented Win2k3 R2, mainly for the Quota management

software.

On this Server, will be users Home Drives. These will be on the E: Volume

and I created a folder called "Home Folders".

Under this folder the Users Home Folders are stored in alphabetical folders

A-Z (In other words, users Surname that start with the letter "A" will be in

the root folder A, and so forth.

I have around 2,500 Home Users Folders that need a quota enabled for 800MB

I wanted to enquire on the best method of doing this. Ideally, I was trying

to avoid doing it on a "per folder" basis for each user, seeing as there is

alot to do.

If anyone has any advice, I would be pleased to hear it. Thank you

Si

Hello Simon,

Have a look here, really easy to use:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/technetmag/issues/2006/05/GetControl/default.aspx

http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver/en/library/ce09ac43-5ce6-4e6c-9d8b-4ed319bbe9a01033.mspx?mfr=true

Hmmmm I did read these, but it does not make it clear - if I am reading this

right, I need to create 2500 folders MANUALLY to setup quotas for each :-((

Hello Simon,

No, you can create a template according to your needs and when you choose

the top folder you can configure it on the settings there to apply this template

for ALL subfolders. Just create a test folder and a test template and play

with the settings. Did not know the exact way, because its to long ago when

tested it. But it works.

Best regards
