I have a PC still running Windows XP, with an internet connection. I would like to connect my laptop, running Windows Vista, to the internet via this PC. They're connected by cable, and I've tried all sorts to make it work, but nowhere on the internet seems to have a guide to this exact situation.

Please help!

You need a crossover cable and not a standard Ethernet Cat5

Do you not have a router? this would be of more benefit than using a crossover cable, and you could use the lappy wireless
