Scroll lock comes on automatically

Scroll lock will frequently turn on by itself. I have a Dell D620 laptop

running Windows XP. I if I wanted to turn the scroll lock on or off, I have

to press Function + Num Lk. There have been times when I have not even been

typing and I will still see the indicator turn on by itself.

This has been an on-going issue for many months. It is very frustrating,

particularly when working in Excel. Scroll lock does not come on

automatically when I boot up the PC; however, after I have been working on

the computer for a while it will start turning on by itself.

How can I make sure that the Scroll Lock feature only turns on when I

actually push the buttons?

Thank you.

asliae,

Turn laptop upside down and shake all of the dirt and food crumbs out of the

keyboard.

Ask the Dell people for the correct procedure for cleaning out your

keyboard.

Re: Scroll lock comes on automatically

The laptop is in excellent condition and is missing the assumed "food

crumbs". This is an issue that many of my coworkers also experience with

their Dell Latitude laptops.
