2003 Terminal Service From Web

Recommended Posts

Hi All

I have remote users who will need to connect in a secure manner to our

Terminal Server from wireless hotspots, It looks TSweb would be great but im

really concerned about security (duh). I Have not given them VPN acess yet as

some WIfi points disallow the nessesary ports.

Before i give my TS box a public IP and DNS address does any one have any

ideas as to controlloing the access allowed..

2003 Svr sp2

XP sp2

RE: 2003 Terminal Service From Web

TSweb is not a security mechanism for delivering Terminal Services

connections. All is does is provide an activex RDP client and the rdp file

settings to connect to the TS. You'd have to open port 3389 on your Internet

Firewall to allow access w/o a 3rd party solution, or switch to Server 2008

which has a Terminal Server Gateway, which allows for connecting users

securely over port 443.

Without switching to 2008, one could use solutions like our Virtual Access

Suite, or an SSL VPN, which would allow users to connect over 443.
