Guest Richard Thompson Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Windows Server 2008 is literally around the corner! I believe the launch is next week sometime! One of my colleagues has been punting that this is a stop gap operating system and Microsoft is going to be rushing to get the next server os out as soon as possible. I`ve already read rumours of the next client os which is supposedly going to replace Vista is already well in development and people believe it will be out next year. True or not, I dont really care! I am worried about the server os. Now, I dont expect any Microsoft employees or MVP`s to respond because I know you guys sign NDA`s and things like that which do not allow you to share such information, but has anyone in the community heard anything similar? My personal opinion is that Server 2008 will be around 4 - 5 years before the next major server OS is released! I believe MSFT have spent a lot of time developing the OS and its new features, to just put this aside to release a replacement in 2 years is crazy. That said the beta and rc stages takes 1 - 2 years anyway, so even if they were to start beta 1 program now we wouldnt see anything released for 2 years anyway, and so far, i`ve not seen any beta`s for the next os. Anyone? -- Kind regards Richard richard@thompson.co.za http://www.thompson.co.za
