shrimply Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Hi guys hoping you can help, I've finally got around to installing windows 7 on my computer, I did a full install instead of just an upgrade and seem to be having a good few problems, the main one at the minute is that although onboard graphics work fine. As soon as I change the bios to use the graphics card despite downloading the latest drivers from ATI for my radeon 3600 and the lastest motherboard drivers from asrock, the computer will freeze during startup, where only the logo and "starting Windows" is shown. Has anyone got any suggestions, may not seem like a major issue but i use the VGA input in my moniter for my old laptop with a broken screen, so really need the digital output on the graphics card so I can easily switch between the computer and the laptop. Many thanks. Quote Keeping Snakes Tips, Advice and info on keeping SnakesClick Here"If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room"
shrimply Posted December 20, 2009 Author Posted December 20, 2009 Well sorry for wasting your time, it seems to have sorted itself out, no idea why but the graphics card is now full functional. shrimply Posted December 20, 2009 Author Posted December 20, 2009 Thanks, I have to say its been a lot more complex than I expected to install, took three attempts to install it before I realised it was the graphics card which was the issue. I honestly have no idea how the upgrade key worked as I'm sure the final install never saw the previous windows vista install. And I've only just managed to find and sort why it wouldn't use my full 4GB of Ram, I suspect there was a similar issue when I was running vista though and I just never clicked. However, its all up and running now and I think I'm pretty happy with it.
