I have a pc over 10 years old which I use for keeping some important information which I have been so far unable to transfer to my new pc - reasons I won't go into here. My problem is it won't boot up - at least I am told this is the problem. The hard disc is an Elonex PC433 and holds MS-DOS 6.2 with Microsoft Windows for Workgroups Version 3.1 - I said it was old! When I turn the computer on, instead of getting the Windows screen I get, first, a screen with the copyright info. for MR BIOS V1.46 etc. and the message to press any key to continue, second a blue screen headed MR BIOS with a series of menus and at the bottom options to Abort or Save & Exit and if I press one of these I get the message "Boot Failure - No Boot Device configured".

I am a dummy when it comes to programming matters so then I panicked! However, I was told not to worry as all my info. was still there but the computer couldn't find it and that I needed a reboot disc to solve my problems. The only trouble is I don't know which disc and where/how to get hold of it.

Can anybody please help as I desperately need to access the information stored? Is there someone out there that can save this poor, traumatised lady??

do you have access to another computer, the easiest way would be to put that drfive into another pc,then burn the data to a cd,,,as its that old,,you may get the whole hard drive on a DVD or 2...

alternativly, get another hard drive then copy the data to it via dos using a win98 boot floppy from,,,,http://www.bootdisk.com/

then use the copy command to copy it to the other hard drive....

the 1st suggestion is thre easiest.....or you search for a bootable version on 98pe cd,,this allows you top boot into 98 without installing it (runs from the cd)then you can copy you files to floppies etc.
