identifying device by PCI\VEN number?

hi,

I remember someone posting a place to check PCI\VEN numbers to identify a

piece of hardware, but can't find it now... I think it was a file to

download as a reference, but my memory is foggy, might have been a URL.

I have a Dell GX240 desktop and a yellow exclamation in the device manager

under "Other Devices"... number is

PCI\VEN_113F&DEV_888C&SUBSYS_00000000&REV_04\4&24B99E98&0&38F0

It's identified as a PCI serial port ???? I have no idea what it is

referring to.

I can find no reference using google... at least that is helpful, one hit

for a driverguide site, but couldn't identify my part.. looked like it might

be a modem, but I have a modem installed and working.

Anyone know of this reference file (or any way to check this) or was I

dreaming?

thanks,

niteowl

See if this helps to identify the device.

Click Start > Run, type in: msinfo32 and press Enter or click Ok.

Click the Plus next to "Components" to expand the tree.

Click on "Problem Devices" to view a list of problem devices in the right pane.

Re: identifying device by PCI\VEN number?

If none of the above works, download "Unknown Device Identifier".

It tells exactly what the "!" is, in most all cases.
