Guest Jack Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Hello, I do not have Windows Sever 2003, neither have an access to one. I am the software developer, and my application does not want to get installed in Server 2003. There is an apparent problem when running setup.exe (the installation file created by vbasic Setup Wizard) in Server 2003. The error is: "Invalid command-line parameters. Unable to continue" I know from the experience that that error appears always when trying to run Setup1.exe alone, which is a part of whole installation package. However, the user do not have access to that Setup1.exe file because it is a compressed file, and the only executable file in installation package is Setup.exe. What the user should set up in Server, so the setup package will run properly? On another hand, what is special with Server 2003 comparing with other Windows OS in regards to program installation? Below, please see the content of the installation package (it is distributed as a zipped file): 05/19/1997 08:08 AM 74,553 asycfilt.dl_ 10/31/1996 03:00 AM 10,146 comcat.dl_ 06/24/1998 12:00 AM 318,415 comctl32.oc_ 06/24/1998 12:00 AM 74,496 comdlg32.oc_ 08/21/1996 03:00 AM 15,600 ctl3d32.dl_ 02/20/2008 12:53 AM 511,462 dial.ex_ 11/03/1998 12:04 PM 865,473 msvbvm50.dl_ 05/19/1997 08:08 AM 320,739 oleaut32.dl_ 05/19/1997 08:08 AM 67,142 olepro32.dl_ 12/09/1996 03:00 AM 89,600 SETUP.EXE 01/01/2008 10:21 PM 8,027 setup.lst 01/01/2008 10:13 PM 112,375 setup1.ex_ 12/09/1996 03:00 AM 37,848 st5unst.ex_ 05/19/1997 08:08 AM 7,134 stdole2.tl_ 12/09/1996 03:00 AM 16,465 vb5stkit.dl_ Thanks, Jack

Guest Jack Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 Re: Server 2003: program installation problem Thank you for pointing it out. Are you in charge of poking at people here? Please show me the way of not multiposting, when after posting in one group, OP realizes that there is a better group to post in. I know now, you cannot help me with the Server problem, so please at least teach me how not to multipost. I appreciate your comments, Jack "Dave Patrick" <DSPatrick@nospam.gmail.com> wrote in message news:0321108E-EB64-443B-B264-F5DF4F2635C4@microsoft.com... > multi-posted > > -- > > Regards, > > Dave Patrick ....Please no email replies - reply in newsgroup. > Microsoft Certified Professional > Microsoft MVP [Windows] > http://www.microsoft.com/protect > > "Jack" <replyto@it> wrote in message > news:u1OT67ZdIHA.1168@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... >> Hello, >> >> I do not have Windows Sever 2003, neither have an access to >> one. >> I am the software developer, and my application does not want to get >> installed in Server 2003. >> There is an apparent problem when running setup.exe (the installation >> file created by vbasic Setup Wizard) in Server 2003. >> The error is: >> "Invalid command-line parameters. Guest Dave Patrick Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 Re: Server 2003: program installation problem Not in charge but one of many that have to deal with it. Cross-posting is when you include two or more groups in the "Newsgroups:" section. (which by evidence of this header you already know) In this scenario the message and all responses are seen in all groups that the message was cross-posted to. In other words any replies will automatically propagate to the other newsgroup posts. Multi-posting is when you post the same message to two or more groups individually. In this scenario the message is seen in the groups it is posted to, but the responses are only seen attached to the message (unless you cross-post the reply) in which the response was made. So those that frequent these groups then need to deal with or re-read the posts. It may seem like a small thing to keep track of. But some of us actively traverse 50 or more groups. The poster also then must search out all of the posts to see if there was a response. I was pointing out to others that this question may have already been answered elsewhere. If you want them to know where then it's your responsibility to let us know by way of a reply to this message. -- Regards, Dave Patrick ....Please no email replies - reply in newsgroup. Guest Jack Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 Re: Server 2003: program installation problem You are really something! Have you bothered to read my (both) posts? Have you noticed they are NOT a copy of each other???? If you did not notice please next time pay more attention to details. As I said, after posting it once I have realized that there is a better group to post it in. What would you do in that case?????? What I did is I REWROTE my original post with the angle pointing more toward server problem not vbasic problem. So, tell me once more that I've multiposted and I will call you ignorant ...
