Now that the war for the next generation DVD format seem to be over, I am wondering: what is the point of all that? Higher definition content? Maybe. Better protection from pirated copies? Mmmm...

Shouldn't the future of DVD (and disks in general) be (legal) downloads? Microsoft has been doing that in some countries with XBox Live, Apple announced the same service (although messy European regulations are delaying the service in a few countries), but don't you feel we could be years ahead?

Just a thought.
