ant13375 Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Hi all, I have a PB easynote TJ65 with windows 7, iam trying to play some home video through the HDMI port from my laptop to my TV but i'm getting no sound, i can get sound if i plug a seperate lead from the headphone output to my surround sound amp but i was hoping that i could do it through one cable. I have checked the soundcard which is an Intel® High Defintion Audio HDMI with the Driver version 6.10.1.2073, which it tells me is the latest one. Any help would be much appreciated. Ant Quote
Plastic Nev Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Hi ant. Is it both HDMI at the laptop and TV or are you using some form of adapter at the TV end of the lead? I have seen this problem previously and in that case there appeared to be no sound support at the TV end, so a separate sound cable had to be used in the end. If there is a HDMI socket on the TV, check the TV manual that it does have full support for it including the sound. I looked up your PC the TJ65 and according to the manufacturers site everything should be OK at that end, so I suspect the problem is the TV. Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems? ant13375 Posted December 28, 2009 Author Posted December 28, 2009 Its a HDMI cable at both ends, i was thinking it was the laptop, i'll now checkout the TV. Its an LG 42PC1D if your interested, cheers for the reply. Ant Quote
Tootech Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 It looks like you have to tell your computer to use the TV speakers rather than its own speakers. I don't know the exact model of your laptop, so I looked up the model series you quoted. Have a read of this, the info you need is about half way down Display - HDMI Port - instr_ic_ports_hdmi - Information and Instructions - EasyNote TJ65Series - platform_sjv50_mv - Notebook Quote
ant13375 Posted December 29, 2009 Author Posted December 29, 2009 I thought i had it with that info but to no avail i'm afraid. switched over to spdif output and it shows that the sound is going to that output but still nothing through the TV. Anymore suggestions are welcome. Ant Quote
Plastic Nev Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 If you are sure the computer is sending the audio out, as Tootech suggested it may have to be configured to do so first, then we are back to the TV, the company LG, do have an on line chat service or send E mail within their support, so it may be worth trying that, have a look here- http://www.lge.com/ca_en/support/product/support-product-profile.jsp?customerModelCode=42PC1D-UB&matchedModelCode=&searchEngineModelCode=42PC1D-UB&initialTab=documents&targetPage=support-product-profile I have looked around that site but cannot seem to find a manual for that TV, have you had a look in the manual yourself? Is there anything in it mentioning those inputs regarding sound? Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. Register here. ant13375 Posted December 29, 2009 Author Posted December 29, 2009 Hi, just tried it on a smaller newer cheaper TV and it worked fine, the sound came straight through the TV speakers, so i tried another HDMI cable and the both HDMI ports on my LG TV and no sound again so i think we're right thats its the TV and i'll go through the manual when i find it and also try your link. Thanks for your help so far and i'll keep you posted. Ant Quote
Plastic Nev Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 OK thanks for that, please let us know. As I said at the start I saw similar some weeks back and it turned out the wiring on the back of the TV wasn't connected, but in that instance I now remember it was connecting via a scart socket.
