installs 7 security fixes every time I shutdown

windows xp professional- booted in normal mode.

 

Problem: Every time I shutdown the pc it installs the same 7 security fixes.

 

I suspect that the registry isn't being updated to show that these have been

installed alredy (at least 20 times!).

 

How can I correct this (or check that the registry can be written to).

try this...

 

stop automatic updates service, then go to the windows folder and delete

everything under softwaredistribution

then start automatic updates service and see if it happens again
