If you don't get a good answer here be sure to ask in the

microsoft.public.outlook.general newsgroup. This ng is more about the

operating system than it is applications that run on it. You will get more

expert answers in an Outlook group.

Try setting the synchronization settings to all messages, and in options,

'send and receive messages..' should be enabled.

Nope - you will get thoroughly yelled at for posting OE questions in an

Outlook newsgroup. They are not the same thing at all. Outlook is part of

Office. OE is part of Internet Explorer & Windows.

Try microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress

If this group isn't carried on the news server that's carrying this one, try

using news.microsoft.com as your NNTP server.

A good website for information on OE is http://www.insideoe.com/

Hi - Hi - unfortunately, you're in the wrong newsgroup. This is a group for

Windows XP issues. Outlook Express is a part of Internet Explorer and has

its own groups. You will probably get a faster and more expert answer if you

post this to an Outlook Express news group.

Try microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress

If this group isn't carried on the news server that's carrying this group,

try using news.microsoft.com as your NNTP server.

Just my personal opinion. Outlook Express is better known as Outhouse

Depressed. If you have Microsoft Office on your computer, try MS

Outlook as your email handler. It's is not the worst and is certainly

better than "Outhouse Express" any day of the week.

X-Posted to OE General newsgroup.

And these settings are?

Is Send & Receive Messages at startup checked?

Is Check for messages every X minutes checked?

How do you know you have a message to be downloaded?

Well, Bruce, I do not know who "Alias" is, but I assure you that this

is based on personal experience as stated in my reply. I am Canadian,

and we usually think for ourselves unlike our neighbours to the south,

that have a tendency to be lemmings. Please take the time to answer

people in need rather than looking for an argument. I have better

things to do than explain my post to you. Good luck with your

"trolling anger" and need to be heard. Did your Mother not hug you

enough? Try to have an original thought, if that is even possible.

group LACKS that.

Ask elsewhere

Get off your 420 before you can give an opinion that can be taken seriously.

OE has worked for me (and undoubtedly for many more) for close to 10 years

now. And yeah, I've used Outlook. The way it freezes up while downloading

mail is fantastic! I worked with Outlook at my university job too, for many

hours. It crashed at least 5 times in 3 hours.

That's a great way to make new friends. If you want to be taken seriously in

these groups, I suggest you cool the attitude & the nonsequitur jingoism,

and learn to play nicely with the other kids.

Thanks Bruce, the reason that I know that I have mail is because when I frist

open outlook to check there is nothing in my inbox. I have to go to send/rec.

and click on my email add. and then they download. I have all the settings

you asked about checked and still nothing.I didn't have this problem until I

got a new email add and set up the new account. I set the new account up

exactly the seme as far as settings go. I stumped any new ideas?

Re: Outlook express wont download e-mail automatically

So, Send & Receive at startup is checked, but you get nothing. However, when

you click Send/Receive you /do/ receive mail?

You may have a damaged identity especially if it is the default Main

Identity. File | Identity | Add New Identity. Create a new one and test it.

If all is well, you can import your messages and Address Book from the old

identity and delete it.
