Roger Best Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Hi, running Windows XP Pro (Windows 7) on a 2 year old PC which was built for me by company I got off the internet. Really pleased with it until about 3 weeks ago when I noticed that as the day progresses system speed really slows. I do a bit in Excel and the pop-up windows take ages to "pop-up" and then complete the command. No installations that I authorised and my AVG free edition software seems to stop quite a few but not all incursions. Also I had a look at SpeedupmyPC which I have not purchased as the reviews were not comforting and am now stuck with the thing scanning everytime I boot up. Not really IT literate but comfy with following instructions. I have everything backed up on a Seagate external drive. If I have posted in the wrong place, my apologies, please advise accordingly. Regards, Roger  Quote
KenB Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Hi Roger and welcome to FPCH. There could be a number of things causing your machine to run slowly. How much RAM do you have? Start > Run .....type in ...winver .....ENTER Download MalwareBytes from here: Malwarebytes.org Download the free version - install - run. There is a lot more that can be suggested - lets see how you get on with these two first. Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! MiniToolBoxNetwork TestWireless Test
