Is there any way of setting up my computer so that if a password is not

entered into the "Welcome to Windows" prompt box, an unauthorised user cannot

get any further?

TIA

Not without making some registry changes since Win Me, like all Win 9x

operating systems was not designed as nor intended to be a secure system.

Win Me's logon is basically to allow different users on the same machine

to have their own personal settings and the like rather than to keep

unauthorised users from accessing the machine.

However Doug Knox, a Microsoft MVP, has a download that contains a

registry file that when applied to the registry does much of what you

want. This can be found at

http://www.dougknox.com/security/validated.htm. Alternatively, and

better, if your PC has a BIOS password, use this.
