Terminal Server as Backup DC

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi,

We have a number of clients running SBS 2003 or SBS 2003 R2 that also

have a Windows 2003 Terminal Server. Can the Terminal Server also

act

as a backup domain controller? We want to have this as extra

protection for the active directory.

Thanks for any help and advice.

Mike,

technically this is possible, although such arrangement is not recommended

due to security and performance implications...

You'd be much better off getting a desktop computer with decent memory

and set it up as an additional DC. Make it a GC, add DNS.
