PseFrank Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Hi Heman I have two suggestions for you. 1. Click start...Right click My Computer 2. Click Properties and select the Advanced tab. 3. Under Startup and recovery....Click Settings. 4. Uncheck (Remove the tick) Automatically Restart....Click OK. 5. Now reboot your computer to see if this has cured your problem. Suggestion Two Run System Restore. Have you recently installed Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.0. This is known to create problems for xp users. Either uninstall the program or get the updated driver from the Roxio web site. Hope this helps out. Quote I thought I knew today...I'll try again tomorrow. :) Need help with your computer problems? heman222 Posted January 5, 2010 Author Posted January 5, 2010 I tried what you said but now instead of restarting i get a blue screen saying c000012a fatal system error and windows could not log on etc.. System restore does not work as when the pc restarts it says it failed due to a bad restart. I do not have roxio 5.0 Quote
maynardvdm Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Hi This could be caused by malware if it infected one of the windows system files. I will move this thread to the malware section first to let our expert look at your system. Please do the following: Please download the latest version of HijackThis from Trend Micro and save it to your desktop. Download HJTInstall.exe to your desktop. Doubleclick HJTInstall.exe to install HijackThis. By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis . Click on Install. It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop. Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis. Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in Notepad. Include this log in your next reply. Notes: Do not use the AnalyseThis button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted. Do not have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless, or required for your computer to run like it should. Quote We are all members helping other members. heman222 Posted January 7, 2010 Author Posted January 7, 2010 Strange My pc suddenly decided to work straight. I am seriously confused. All I did was uninstall my real player and back up some of my data just in case and then when I tried to shut it down it worked fine. Could anyone explain this? PS> Thank you all of the above who helped me. Quote
