"Send to" doesn't open e-mail form

I originally thought this might be an Outlook problem, but I've since decided

that there may be an Windows XP setting preventing me from right clicking a

file and using "Send to - Mail Recipient". I'm using Windows XP Professional,

Office 2003 and Outlook is set as my default mail program (Unless Windows

Live Messenger hijacked it without leaving traces.) When I click on a picture

I get the "resize" dialog box, but no e-mail form ever opens up. When I click

on a text file, no e-mail form shows up. have switched between Outlook's

default mail form and using Word 2003 as the default editor, and neither

chice makes any difference; I still don't get the form.

I have never run across this problem before, and any help would be

appreciated. Thanks,

Mike

Reassert OL as the default Mail Client. See

http://www.slipstick.com/config/defaultmailer.htm

Also make sure it's the default for Mail in Set Program Access and Defaults.

I had already done these actions, but thanks for the suggestions.

Actually, running the process monitor from Sysinternals showes that Outlook

I get a single entry for Word and then nothing. I thought it might be Google

Destop, but I uninstalled GD and I have the same problem.

I will run processmon on a working sytem and compare the outputs, but I was

hoping some genius in this group had a possible solution based on similar

experiences.

Thanks,

It looks like Live mail is, in fact, installed on this system. Is this a

known issue? I didn't see anything on when I searched.

Re: "Send to" doesn't open e-mail form

Yes, installing Windows Live Mail is known to "hijack" the default Mail

Client. I'd recommend uninstalling it via Add/Remove Programs if you want

to continue using OL as your default.
