We have occassion to automatically*update a piece of software which runs on XP.* Our update method works great on Win2K as the software checks to see if it should be updated, and if it does, it automatically downloads the update and installs it.* Easy.*

OK, now a non admin user is running our software on XP, they do not have Admin rights on that local computer, so they can't write to the Program Files directory.* Our update fails, and we look like amatures.

We don't have much control over how the computer is set up.* Is there a way we can tell XP to let us write to the Program Files directory regardless of who the current user is?* We wrote an update service, which needs to be installed by an admin, but it has other problems.

Suggestions?

Thanks Much,
