Guest Gil Davis Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 I am not sure where this belongs, so if you can guide me with the right words, I would appreciate it. I have been trying to use a Pinnacle PCTV To Go HD box (a Slingbox type device) on my network. This box converts HD component video into an MPEG-2 stream for multicast wireless (802.11G) and remote internet access, and an MPEG-4 stream for local wired ethernet access. My network consists of a Windows 2003 Server as domain controller, a Windows 2000 Server as DNS and DHCP server, a Windows 2000 Pro client and a couple of Windows XP SP2 Pro clients. I first tried to connect the PCTV box to my network through a hub. I was able to run the Pinnacle setup wizard successfully, but not the player. The player can access the box remotely, but not locally, unless I am logged on to the computer. I have admin rights regardless of which way I log in. I can ping the device in either mode. I tried a few different ways to connect to the box, including an ethernet bridge on one of the XP clients, and I tried creating a computer account in AD Users & Computers with the MAC address of the box as the GUID. Somewhere along the way I actually got the box to work for about a week, until Monday when my DC rebooted for a Windows Automatic Update. Something must have gotten reset on the reboot to lose some permission or trust between the box and the domain. It still gets an IP, and I can still ping it. I even gave it an "A" record in the DNS. I don't really know if it is actually an AD permissions/trust problem or an XP problem. BTW, Windows Firewall is disabled on all machines. I have a hardware firewall between my network and the DSL modem. I could use some more trouble-shooting tips, because I have shot all that I can think of. Feel free to redirect me to a more pertinent forum. Thanks!
Guest Gil Davis Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 RE: Problem with accessing PCTV To Go HD if logged in to domain Well, yesterday the thing decided to start working again. The only thing I know that I did differently was to check the "trust for delegation" in the profile for the computer in AD Users & Computers. I am even able to ditch the ethernet bridge and connect the box directly to the router. Still working fine. Go figure.
