Having installed Win7 Home Premium upgrade version for Vista, I chose the 32bit disc and installed it, brilliant. I have now been told to install the 64 bit version from disc supplied because it will work faster. I need to know how please. Step by step would be good as I am not quite a silver surfer but nearly;)

Kind Regards,

Jenian

I've never swapped a 32 bit upgrade for a 64 bit version....

But I would say that you need to be running the version of Windows you started with pre Windows 7, and then use the 64 bit DVD to upgrade. I don't know what will happen as far as activation goes, it may work it may not.

In your case that means going back to Vista and upgrading again.

If you are brave, you could try asking Microsoft.

For everyday use I'd be surprised if you could tell any difference in performance between the two versions. If you use 3.5GB + of memory, then 64 bit is really the best option.

What do you use your PC for?

Hi

For an upgrade i thought you were limited by the version of Vista u had installed in the first place 32 or 64 bit , and the only way to go from vista 32 bit to win 7 64 bit was to buy a new full version of 64bit Win7.

not 100 % on this but fairly sure :)
