sarahhatesherpc Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Hi lads, hope this is the right place to sort this. Myself and my flatmate both have desktops and I have just bought a new laptop and they all connect fine to the internet from the one router, however we can't get the pc's to access each other. The desktops both run win xp professional nd the laptop is running the new windows 7 Their all on the same workgroup (called WORKGROUP) and it's set to a 'work' network on the laptop and they all show as attached to the router but can't seem to see each other. Several folders on all three computers are set up to share. I've done a few google searches and looked through this forum and a few others where people seem to have a similar problem but none of the posted solutions seem to work for me. Is there something I am missing? does anyone have any guesses? I am not that computer savvy so it's probably something irritatingly simple so please accept my apologies if I'm being dumb. RandyL Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 I can't remember for sure but on Vista and 7 I seem to remember having to add "Everyone" without the quotes in both sharing and security including the Advanced options. sarahhatesherpc Posted January 8, 2010 Author Posted January 8, 2010 Ok, I'll go through those settings on my laptop when I get in from work and will see if it makes a difference Quote
