sarahhatesherpc Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Hi guys, this is probably fairly basic but I just want to make sure I don't make a mistake and cause a massive ammount of grief I have a desktop running two copies of win XP pro (don't ask) on my c and d drives. I want to uninstall the copy of xp on my d drive, then replace it with the copy of windows 7 i just bought(then if all goes well uninstall the copy of win xp on my c drive So my question is how do I completely remove the copy of windows xp on my d drive and all the programs, without affecting the copy of win xp on my c drive? Do I just delete d:/windows? Thanks, Sarah Quote
Jelly Bean Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Hello there. I would not advise installing on D then ridding yourself of C. Often enough having a main OS as any other drive letter than C can cause terrible issues and you may not be able to boot. I would back all data from C drive incase of any errors then use C as the install for Win 7. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
Ezu Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Hello, First time you should check if your system is compatible with Windoes 7, check Windows 7 requirements. How to install Windows 7 over XP First steps is to download and run the Windows 7 upgrade advisor, second step is to moving files and settings, and gathering your program discs, and the last step is to install your Windows 7. All the necessary steps you will can find here Quote
