mij Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 I'm getting this error when attempting to downsize a file in irfanview. I used to get a grey window that gave me a slider and the option of reducing the image by a percentage. Now the choice is under a different tab and one uses a plug-in option that reduces the image to send to a site/forum/blog etc. I get to choose and save then it comes up with the above and I get no further. I can resize online anyway but this is frustrating knowing that it should do this. Details Running Win. Vista home 2Gb memory 400Gb HDD software runing at start-up (in the lunch-box at the bottom right) calendar, volume control, BE box, advanced care system, win amp, vista clock, windows security, pen flicks, tom tom home, realtek audio manager, add blocker, spybot S&D, printer and updater. I have all up-dates installed. cheers jim Quote

mij Posted January 9, 2010 Author Posted January 9, 2010 Hi jim. Have you tried reinstalling it? Are you using the latest 4.25 version? It is the latest version you mentioned, 4.25. Yes I did un-install then re-instated it but to no avail I'm afraid. Cheers jim Quote
RandyL Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Well I don't see those options in mine but I do see some plug-in options that I never installed so I surmise that you are referring to such plug-in options. For now try opening a picture in Irfanview. Click Image. Click Resize/Resample... There are a lot of options for resizing there using various methods. Quote We are all members helping other members. Tootech Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 I did it on mine from the menu "Save For Web" - are you trying to save to a restricted folder? Try saving to Desktop or similar. Edit: Randy there is a plugin pack available for download from their site - is that what you are referring to? Quote
RandyL Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Yes Tootech. I am referring to the plug-ins from their site. However I did not download and install those. I just have the basic Irfanview installed. Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. mij Posted January 9, 2010 Author Posted January 9, 2010 Yes Tootech. I am referring to the plug-ins from their site. However I did not download and install those. I just have the basic Irfanview installed. Aha moment I think! I wonder if it's the plugins I downloaded that did it. I did download them separately for something or other, perhaps that's it. It rings bells here! I'll need to un-install then re-install without the plugins. Well it's worth a try innit :D cheers jim Quote

Except I get the message 'the plu-gin is not available'. Well least I don't get the access violation message. It still takes me to a different page (like the desktop or similar) to save it. It used to take me to a grey window with a slider that gave a %age reduction in size. Cheers jim  Quote
Goku Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Hello Jim. We could use a bit more of information here. :) I guess you are using the RIOT plug-in for your task. If that is the case, then this was a bug in the plug-in that the developer addressed in an update. Please download the latest DLL version from here and replace it with your existing plug-in and see if it resolves the problem or not. Just for information, but if you want to see the notification regarding the error, look at the change log on the left side of the page. Let us know how it goes though. Good Luck. -- Goku Quote
