Guest Tra Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 I would like to ask for comments and known problems on the indexing service with Windows Server 2003. I am trying to find resolution to a problem I am having with accessing files from the server. When my users open windows explorer or/and the search to locate files on the server there is about an 5 to 8 second pause before it connects and starts searching or displaying files. After the pause it seems fine. I would love it if I could gets results instantly when searching for files and even when clicking on a mapped network drive. Thank you, Tracey

Guest Jh Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 RE: Window Server 2003 Indexing Service I'm having a similar issue. I migrated a group of users (50ish) to a brand new Win2k3 SP2/R2 server on the weekend. They are mapping to user folders department folders etc. When they try and access any of the shares there is (in my case) a 12-15 second delay and then everything is great. But if they leave the machines for an hour or so and go to connect to a share again it takes another 12-15 seconds........I makes no sense to me.
