Hi guys? I am looking at two laptops for my bro:

They will be primarily used for word-processing and web-browsing with some gaming e.g. age of mythology (an oldie but a goodie) and unreal tournament 2004.

The ACER one had DDR3 memory whilst the HP laptop is cheaper with a discount code (£380).

Don't know about the gaming side apart from the fact that for £400 you won't get much of gaming video card. For older games there shouldn't be a problem.

The Acer is a nice machine - I set two of them up recently and they seem good value for money.

I'm a bit wary of HP laptops as some of them have had some serious quality issues over the last 3 years or so - they may be ok, but I'd go with the Acer :)

If it helps - I have a Acer 5735. Had it for a year or so with no problems at all.

The battery life is good - (depends what you are doing)

One slightly annoying factor - my USB ports are all on the left side. I sometimes like to use a mouse and it is slightly annoying having the cable trailing under the machine. This is my only negative comment with this machine :)

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!
