Grouping Menu Items on the Star Menu All Programs`

I'd like to add an entry to All Programs, so that I can group several

programs together. How can this be done? Right-click doesn't seem to provide

a way. For example, I want a category called Adobe, so that I can have all

my Adobe programs listed under it.

Right click the start button, Open all users, open Programs, click File,

New, Folder and call it "Adobe"

That got the entry of Adobe set, but I don't seem to be able to drag and

drop the Adobe entries into it. There are three such entries and two are

highlighted in a pale yellow. I tried dragging a simple program not by Adobe

into the Adobe folder, but it wouldn't go either.

One other odd problem I think that is unrelated to this is two HP StartUp

folders in All Programs. One is empty, but the other has four reasonable

entries. If I try to remove the entry, it gives me an OK dialog that says

HPStartup is a Window system folder and is required for Window to run

properly. It cannot be deleted. I click OK, of course. The other folder is

for programs related to my HP 6100 all-in-one printer.

Right-click Taskbar, Properties, click Start Menu tab, choose Customize

Click "Advanced" tab and enable the option "Enable Dragging and Dropping."

It's checked. I tried dragging the Adobe Distiller to another Menu folder,

and it worked. Apparently something is odd about this new Adobe folder. The

fact that is empty may have something to do with it, but that's a guess.

Can you drag and drop them while you are in the Explorer window? As to

the "HP folder" I suspect it has the "System" flag set. In Details View

r-click the column header and enable "Attributes" to be shown. If there

is an "S" then HP forced the "system attribute". To clear it, open a

Command prompt, and CD to the Program directory, and then issue

Attrib -S HPstartup

and that will clear the system bit.

I'm not sure what you mean by d&d in the IE or is it WE? (I seldom use WE

directly.) I suspect you want me to try to work down the folder path from

Documents & Settings\administrator\Start Menu\Programs\... If so, it's a bit

odd in at the moment I don't seem to find Adobe. Ah, ha. The administrator

folder isn't where I want to be. All Users is. Yes, I'm able to d&d. I guess

one needs to have one entry in the folders to do it outside of WE. I moved

two in via the menu after getting one in via WE. Thanks.
