Worst design fault in windows.

When you click on the desktop it should be brought to the top (show

desktop).

How can a group of idiots get to design a major piece of software so badly?

Posted

Re: Worst design fault in windows.

If you unlock the task bar, and select show quick launch... a show desktop

link is placed in the taskbar. clicking it will bring the desktop in focus

(on top)

Well I would rather not have a bad solution when I could have a good one.

I already have a show desktop icon in the taskbar but it is a bad solution.

It is so logical to show the desktop by clicking on it.

Well, you must be the biggest idiot of them all.

Where and what OS have you seen your request work?

Not if all your windows are open at full-screen bucko.

RE: Worst design fault in windows.

Hello "Lord Turkey Cough",

Try this: press the Windows Key + D

The letter D means "D)esktop"

Everyone I've shown that key to loves it. It's surprising that so few people

know about it, but it's one of those keys you just can't live without once

you do know about it.

You can press it once to show your desktop instantly. You can press it again

to restore the windows.

Hope that helps restore your faith in Microsoft's development team. (I

happen to love XP, so I'm biased.)

Yes that is true, but i don't like to do that because it means

it is harder to swich windows - bucko.

Anyway you are flogging dead horse if you think a logically bad design is

good.

I noticed he never offered up an OS that had that feature...sounds like a

hater to me - someone you will never please.

As you were told before, write your own Op Sys and we'll critique it.

Until you have it ready for testing, don't post back.

Hmm. Micros~1 has buckets full of experienced designers, psychologists,

focus groups, feedback evaluators, industrial and time-and-motion experts,

and more.

They know what's best for you.

Should you still disagree, in the face of overwhelming evidence to the

contrary, I'll bet Micros~1 even has a local 12-step program in which you

could enroll. Or at least one in the nearest big city.

You could probably visit http://www.microsoft.com and find a convenient meeting

place.

By that reply, it LOOKS like you entered it with a mouse! Or maybe you

never learned to type? Windows key-D is much quicker than taking a hand

off the keyboard and mouse clicking the shortcut in the QL toolbar, OR

clicking a spot on the Desktop.

And you've got it backwards. Keeping your hands on the keyboard and

using shortcuts is the quickest way to accomplish tasks. Taking your

hand off of it to use the mouse only slows one down.
