I am encountering two problems with 3rd party controls where if I try to use/add a component VS crashes. The only error in the event log is;

.NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.1433 - Fatal Execution Engine Error (7A06491A) (0)

The problem occurs specifically when I try to

  1. Add a WCF service to a client application
  2. Add a dataset as the datasource to a grid control - all other controls from this vendor work (using a completely different vendors components than above) . I can add a dataset as normal, but as soon as I click the smart tag on the grid and define e.g. customersBindingSource, VS crashes and I get the error in the event log (Vista)

I have followed a bunch of suggestions from customer support like disabling UAC etc to no avail

What I would like to know is if it is possible to get far more meaningful information from VS. What I DETEST a lot is when crashed occur and the information is sent to MS. I need to know what is happening to help resolve problems.

I doubt that the problem is with the 3rd party controls fully as this would affect far more people thnn it presently does, somewhere along the line there is an issue I need to try to get to the bottom of.
