Cyprus Hector Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 My wife has a nice set of Sennheiser 35 headphones which she uses for Skype telephone calls with XP. I tried them with Windows 7 but it wont recognise them. I can't find any software updates. Anyone know what I can do or what decent headsets are available that will work with Win 7? When I look at new headsets it's not clear whether they are Win 7 compatable. Thanks. Quote
RandyL Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Hi Cyprus. To my knowledge headphones should be just like speakers. Just plug them into the proper input and they should work no matter the version of Windows. Are you using front or back inputs when you plugged them in? Have you checked your audio input settings in Control panel? I have a feeling this might be just a matter of setting your audio to use the front jacks when headphones are plugged in. On some you can bring up sound on speakers and headphones at the same time so it might be just a setting depending on what audio you have. If you supply your make/model/number of your PC or what sound card or chip you have perhaps someone can offer more. I know nothing of Skype but I'm sure someone does. Jelly Bean Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 I sort of agree with Randy. I have done a search of this headset and found no downloads. I sugest you update your sound card driver via device manager while the headset is plugged in and on. This may kick in the headset and it should work.If you have Realtek HD audio control panel open it and you can configure the jacks from there.Right click on the colour jack in HD audio control panel and you can use a check box to ensure it is set for Headset. Have you also configured windows sound and checked all sliders are fully up and nothing is muted? HD Audio control panel if thats what you have also needs to be configured. If all else fails go to device manager and uninstall the driver for the sound card.Leave headset plugged in and functioning and then reboot your computer.Windows will reinstall the driver.
