Mouse is multiselecting

Whenever I point to something in Word, Intrnet Explorer, Excel or whatever,

it selects several paragraphs, sometimes 3 or 4 of them or in Excel, clicking

in a cell will select 5 or 6 adjacent cells. Sometimes in IE 7, selecting a

word will select the whole page. I've tried switching mouses and keyboards to

no avail, so there is some setting, apparently I've triggered.

How can I stop this and what causes it. It just started last night

The date and time was 2/29/2008 7:08 AM, and on a whim, GKW in GA

pounded out on the keyboard:

Have you gone into the mouse settings in Control Panel? You may have

your left click set to double click that is causing the multiple

selection when clicked on. Do you have Tweak-UI installed and have you

made any changes there?

If none of that helps, did you try a System Restore to go back before it

started?

If you wanted to duplicate that action, you'd click at the beginning of

a string, then Shift-click the current location. That suggests one of

the Shift keys is sticking. HTH,
