Hi and welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help.

Do you get these lines on all pictures and video, do you see them now here on this page, or on this photograph-

Hi, there are no lines or distortion on that photograph, but you are seeing them, that suggests some fault on your monitor. To prove it one way or the other, can you try your monitor on a friends computer, or borrow a monitor and try it on your computer.

Let us know what you find if you can do either or both of those,

Nev.

Well PlasticNev , problem solved, tried alternative monitor and cable which showed my monitor/cable was at fault.

Tried alternative monitor with my cable that showe ok.

Alternative cable showed that my monitor definately was at fault.

so i thought what next new monitor or further advice?

Put everything back and hey presto my monitor working fine now!!

but thanks Plastic Nev you put me in the right direction ty Nizmaro

Thanks for the update. It may have just been the pins in the plugs and sockets got a bit oxidised or dirty, unplugging then reconnecting several times will clear that. Looks like that is what happened here.

Nev.
