Missing Help and Support service

Is there a way to restore the Help and Support service on Windows 2k3 domain

controllers? When I try to analyze errors in the event log by clicking the

link within the description, I'm told the service isn't running. This

service is not present in the Services snap in.

I've located a reg file that restores these services in XP, but have come up

pretty empty on the Server side.

Do you know of a work around for Windows Server 2003?

Thanks, Jon

Re: Missing Help and Support service

Hello JonR,

Works also in normal 2003 servers:

http://blogs.technet.com/sbs/archive/2007/03/20/help-and-support-service-missing-after-installing-windows-2003-service-pack-2.aspx

Use it myself more often until now.

Best regards

Re: Missing Help and Support service

Meinolf, Thanks for the link. I executed the DOS command spelled out in the

SBS blog you referenced. The command completed without error, but still no

Help and Support Center service. I also checked the event log and there were

no errors, or even confirmation that anything had happened.

I'm running standard Windows 2003 server, not the SBS version. Do you think

this makes a difference?

Re: Missing Help and Support service

Latest update,

My network has 6 DCs. When I ran the command on one of the remote servers,

it did not do any good, but when I ran the command on the DC with the FSMO

roles, it worked. Then it worked on the DC in the remote site. I will

implement on the others when I get back tomorrow. Thank you very much for

helping me solve this mysterious disappearance of the Help and Support

service!
