Skullion Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Hi, ..... I've rebooted and re-installed windows about 5-7 times now, and it's getting annoying. Each Time I do it,....I come across a different problem like Windows Help and Support/device manager will stop working, or internet explorer will shut down or simple installing a program and it happens, but each time it does the Computer shuts itself down and when you try and load windows back up, it cant due to missing file: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM Any Advice would be greatful. Thank you Quote
Skullion Posted January 16, 2010 Author Posted January 16, 2010 *UPDATE* Before When I had the Virus/Trojans ...... There was 8 of them located in the Scan Funny Enough they all seemed to be in the \WINDOWS\CONFIG\csrss.exe files. When they I am Formatted the Hard Drive and Re-installing windows, is there a way they are not being deleted? Quote
RandyL Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 When you format are you using the Quick format? How to partition and format a hard disk by using Windows XP Setup program instead of the other Do you mean csrs.exe? If so it does appear to be malware. If it is csrss.exe it should be in System32 not CONFIG which also indicates malware. Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. Jelly Bean Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 The first thing I would do is run a repair install. That message could be your OS is having issues and needs a repair install or it could be a virus. Attempt repair first. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
Skullion Posted January 16, 2010 Author Posted January 16, 2010 Hi,...Thank yous for the reply's, out of 3 forums, yous were the only ones who made a reply in a attempt to try and repair, and for that I am very greatful. Thank You. When I did the Scan, it said the Viruses were located in: \WINDOWS\CONFIG\CSRSS.EXE Thats how exactly it was wrote on the computer, and When I was doing a reboot,...I would delete the partition and then create a new one then start the Format but not on the quick option ... this would take 40mins to an hour. If I would have to repair it,.....how would I go about doing that? ..... as I've tryed to repair the computer from the recovery but sorry to say I didn't understand any of it expect EXIT lol Thanks csrss Quote
Jelly Bean Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Oh thats not on,no one answered. Are you using a full install disk? Or a recovery disk? Or recovery console? Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
Skullion Posted January 16, 2010 Author Posted January 16, 2010 Hmmm Not Sure Think Full Intall Disk lol When I bought the Computer, it was custom built, they gave me Geniune copy of Windows Xp Home Edition but did not give me any other disks like drivers etc At the time I didn't even think I'd need them lol But When I pop the disc in and reboot,.....I can reformat hard drive or try and repair the computer but gives you a alot of commands Quote
Jelly Bean Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Using the full install disk if thats what you have: How do you perform a reinstallation of Windows XP, sometimes called a repair installation? Configure your computer to start from the CD-ROM drive. For more information about how to do this, refer to your computer's documentation or contact your computer manufacturer. Press ENTER when you see the message To setup Windows XP now, and then press ENTER displayed on the Welcome to Setup screen. 3. Do not choose the option to press R to use the Recovery Console. 4. In the Windows XP Licensing Agreement, press F8 to agree to the license agreement. 5.
