Guest chris.wilkins10@virgin.net Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Hi All, I'm setting up DFS on Server 2003 R2 for the first time so this is a steep learning curve. I started by using the 'Distributed File Sytem' from the administration program list. I've set up a few test ROOT's and ROOT TARGET's I've set up a few test LINK's and LINK targets I have set up relication of both LINK's and ROOT TARGET's All seems to work fine. Files are relicating between two file servers. But I'm a bit confused over the DFS Management in the File Server Management MMC. My question is:- Is there any difference in the 'DFS' and 'DFS Namespace' user interfaces (apart from the terms used ie. ROOTs now are refered as NAMESPACEs, LINKs now is refered to as FOLDERs). Are the two methods of 'managing' the DFS compatable and just are just only different user interfaces, or are they completely different systems? Chris W. S. London
