Check the fuse in the plug if that's ok try a different PSU

P.S. get a cleaner in and dust more often that way there won't be any tumble weeds

Depends, if it had a fault when shipped, basically if your not getting zip not even a light on the MoBo then there is no power going to the MoBo.

which ether means it is connected wrong, could be a loose cable, but was working so thats unlikely, or the PSU isn't sending Power to the MoBo or the MoBo is severely fried, you didn't mention burning smells so I am going for the PSU.

If you take the MoBo out you should be able to see by looking carefully if it has fried

If you give us the specs on everything in the case then we can check to see if the PSU was big enough.

Back to basics I'm afraid.....

Disconnect your DVD drive(s), hard drive, extra fans, video card (if you have onboard also), and wireless card.

Check your connections to the motherboard carefully- especially the front panel wiring.

Disconnect the mainboard conenctors, re connect them. Take out the memory and refit.

Will it fire up now? If not reset the BIOS by removing the battery for 30 seconds and refitting - make sure the mains is off at the plug.

Will the board fire up now?

no.1.......no................................no.2.........no.............still totally DEAD.........nice idea ...see where your coming from...........next...regards TIM.

Thats it then - either your PSU is dead or your board is dead, or worst case, PSU died and took the board with it.

Only way to tell is have your PSU tested or swap it for another.

BTW - is your "300w EPOWER psu" up to power all the gear you said you added. I would say not. To be on the safe side, 450 or 500W.

There is a big surge of required current when a PC fires up, adding more gear, fans, drives and/or video card could have pushed your PSU too far.

just put power tester on psu.......works fine....fan firing up as expected.....................re-plug back into board with just hdd pluged in....DEAD.....?

do you have another board you can try it with? it's looking like a fried MoBo if the PSU is checking out OK.

you should at least have LED's on the MoBo lighting up

Take all cards /connections off the m/board leaving only the 24 way ATX connection from the PSU.

Disconnect hard drive / dvd drive data cables from the m/board too and the power leads to the drives..

Unscrew the m/board and sit it on a piece of card / newspaper to insulate it from the case.

Switch on.

You should get POST beeps.

If you don't then this indicates m/b or PSU.

As you are sure the PSU is ok - this would leave only the m/board.

If you do get POST - then the likelihood is that you had a short between the m/b and the case.

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!
