Guest Conrad Gotzmann Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 I have not been able to backup my D Drive due to the partition changing from NTFS to raw: chkdsk.exe claims the partition is raw and NT shadow copy fails. Once I reboot all is fine until the next backup. HP onboard sata raid controller. 2 x 160GB raid 1. partition C: partition d: backup d:\ to d:\diskbackup exluding the diskbackup folder. Both disks and system board have been replaced. Raid Drivers are up to date. This worked for about 1 year then suddenly problems with NT backup. NT Backup reports. Backup started on 3/1/2008 at 9:21 PM. WARNING: Portions of "\Exchange\bin\ContentFilter.dll" cannot be read. The backed up data is corrupt or incomplete. This file will not restore correctly. Warning: Unable to open "D:\Exchange\bin\ContentFilterHelp.chm" - skipped. Reason: The system cannot find the file specified. Total backup is 20GB The following works. Backup D:\ to f:\diskbackup Run Exchange only backup Run Systemstate backup OK. What could be causing this problem ?

I would reformat the partition, but only after backing it up to a different disk, then restoring it to yet another disk. Backing up a partition to itself does not seem to make much sense. Does the problem occur when you select a different destination drive?
